Syntypes: MCZ 28500 (7, ?now 3), 34945-46 (1, 4), 35162 (1), 35182 (1), 35185 (1), 35187 (1), 35189 (2); USNM 120422 [ex MCZ 28500] (1). •Questionably a synonym of Triphoturus mexicanus (Gilbert 1890) -- (Paxton 1979:18 [ref. 6440]). •Synonym of Triphoturus mexicanus (Gilbert 1890) -- (Hulley 1986:85 [ref. 9677]). •Valid as Triphoturus oculeum (Garman 1899) -- (Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:167 [ref. 24555], Evseenko 2008:162 [ref. 32467], Page et al. 2023:98 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Triphoturus oculeum (Garman 1899). Myctophidae: Lampanyctinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.
