No types known. Preoccupied in same article by Chalcinus elongatus iquitensis Nakashima 1941:63 [ref. 13189]; first reviser Malabarba 2004:186 selecting C. e. iquitensis. •Synonym of Triportheus rotundatus (Jardine 1841) -- (Malabarba & Lima in Reis et al. 2003:158 [ref. 27061]). •Synonym of Triportheus albus Cope 1872 -- (Malabarba 2004:184 [ref. 28150], Malabarba 2024:435 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Synonym of Triportheus albus Cope 1872. Triportheidae: Triportheinae. Habitat: freshwater.

On p. 50 of separate. •Species inquirenda in Triportheus, possibly a synonym of T. albus Cope 1872 -- (Malabarba & Lima in Reis et al. 2003:158 [ref. 27061]). •Synonym of Triportheus albus Cope 1872 -- (Malabarba 2004:184 [ref. 28150], Malabarba 2024:435 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Synonym of Triportheus albus Cope 1872. Triportheidae: Triportheinae. Habitat: freshwater.

rotundatus, Chalcinus Nakashima [S.] 1941:64, Fig. [Boletín del Museo de Historia Natural "Javier Prado" v. 5 (no. 16); ref. 13189] Puerto de Iquitos, Amazon system, northeastern Peru. No types known. Appeared as above in main heading (apparently in error) and as Chalcinus rotundatus iquitensis in caption to figure; intention of author unclear. As a subspecies, the name is in competition with Chalcinus elongatus iquitensis in the same work. •Synonym of Triportheus rotundatus (Jardine 1841) -- (Malabarba & Lima in Reis et al. 2003:158 [ref. 27061]). •Synonym of Triportheus albus Cope 1872 -- (Malabarba 2024:435 [ref. 40817]). 1°Homonym.
