See history of name as given by Hardy on p. 157. Gender attributed to genus by Hardy was neuter, but "odon" is masculine. Type by monotypy. Correct spelling for genus of type species is Tripterygion. According to Rosenblatt 1960:4-5 [ref. 11946], the type species is misidentified and the generic characters do not match Tripterygium carminale Jordan & Gilbert 1882; he suggests making the type species Gillias sexmaculatus Fowler.
