Holotype: MUSM 47102 (ex INHS 40163). Paratypes: ANSP, CAS, IPA, INPA, INHS, MHNG. Plus non-type material. •Valid as Tympanopleura cryptica Walsh, Ribeiro & Rapp Py-Daniel 2015 -- (Calegari et al. 2019:[98] [ref. 36961], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:23 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Tympanopleura cryptica Walsh, Ribeiro & Rapp Py-Daniel 2015. Auchenipteridae: Auchenipterinae. Distribution: South America: western Amazon basin (Brazil and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
