Species that contain: Umbra and pygmaea [ 3 ] records bilineata, Umbra pygmaea Shufeldt [R. W.] 1917:147, Fig. [Aquatic Life v. 2 (no. 11); ref. 20766] Tributary of Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, U.S.A. Syntypes: USNM 16896 (orig. 4, now 3), 60797 (1, not this family), 67455 (2, now 0), 68321 (6), 72442 (larger of 2), Univ. of Chile [ex USNM 67455] (2); not 27481, 35971, or one specimen in 16896. Fowler (1917:94) selected USNM 16896 as type, perhaps not knowing that there was more than one specimen in that lot. Shufeldt listed several USNM lots and it is very confusing which he referred to his new subspecies; technically no lectotype has been named. •Synonym of Umbra pygmaea (DeKay 1842) -- (see Fowler 1917:94 [ref. 24137]).
