Not labeled a new genus in the original description or in list of new genera in volume; but it was spelled consistently as Homalosoma in the original description, on plate, etc.; see Hora 1932:309 [ref. 2208]. It is a misspelling of Homaloptera which Boulenger confused with the snake genus Homalosoma. •Valid as Homalosoma Boulenger 1901 -- (Kottelat 2001:45 [ref. 25482]). •Synonym of Vanmanenia Hora 1932 -- (Chen 1980:97 [ref. 6901], Zheng in Pan et al. 1991:267 [ref. 23876], Kottelat 2012:71 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:196 [ref. 32989]). Second species referred to genus with question. Boulenger's Homalosoma apparently a mistake for Homaloptera; also preoccupied.
