Holotype (unique): SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 39 [ex AMG]. •Valid as Ventrifossa nasuta (Smith 1935) -- (Iwamoto 1986:340 [ref. 5674], Iwamoto in Cohen et al. 1990:306 [ref. 18936], Sazonov & Shcherbachev 1997:543 [ref. 24697]). Current status: Valid as Ventrifossa nasuta (Smith 1935). Macrouridae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean. Habitat: marine.
