Preoccupied by Aspius fasciatus Nordmann 1840. •Synonym of Zacco spilurus (Günther 1868) -- (Bănărescu 1968:308 [ref. 20605], Mai 1978:128 [ref. 13511]). •Synonym of Zacco spilurus (Günther 1868), but wrongly as a valid subspecies -- (Ye & Song in Pan et al. 1991:71 [ref. 23876]). •Synonym of Parazacco spilurus (Günther 1868), but wrongly as a valid subspecies -- (Kuang in Kuang et al. 1986:519 [ref. 26639], Chen & Chu in Chen et al. 1998:39 [ref. 23878], Zhang et al. 2016:50 [ref. 34477], Ito & Hosoya 2016:90 [ref. 34788]). •Incorrectly valid as Parazacco fasciatus (Koller 1927) -- (Kottelat 2001:34 [ref. 25482], Kottelat 2013:139 [ref. 32989], Wang et al. 2019:[6] [ref. 36521]). •The name Zacco asperus is available for this subspecies based on placement by Chen & Chu in Chen et al. 1998:39 [ref. 23878]. 1°Homonym.
