SIALIDAE

Haplosialis afra Navás, 1936

Type Depository: MNHN, Paris.

Type Locality: Perinét, February 1935, Olsoufieff.

Geographical Distribution: Perinet. One additional male that appears to be this species from Fianarantsoa, Ranomafana National Park, Talatakely, 7 April 1998, N.D. Penny (San Francisco).

Notes: Navás’ original description indicates both males and females, but number of specimens was not given. The original description contains only a poor drawing of the wing. Paulian (1951) indicates the collection of one additional specimen at Perinet in January, 1950 by M.P. Cachan. This article contains very poor drawings of the male genitalia and fore and hind wings.

Type Depository: MNHN, Paris and Navás' collection, now in Barcelona.

Type Locality: Madagascar, Condot, female Paris, female Navás collection.

Geographical Distribution: The original description did not give any specific locality.

Notes: The original description contains a poor illustration of the vertex and tip of forewing. The head drawing indicates a pale head with dark quadrangular spot posteromedially. Pronotum brun noir."
