The type specimens were still alive and in the aquarium at Taronga Zoo in June 1970 (Whitley 1970:242 [ref. 6601]). Although Whitley designated a holotype, it was impossible to determine the specimen (see Dingerkus & DeFino 1983:40 [ref. 5386], so they designated a lectotype).
