Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-Pacific: Madagascar, Seychelles and Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.), north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, New Caledonia and Tonga; eastern Pacific: southern tip of Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Colombia, including Gulf of California (Mexico), Malpelo Island (Colombia) and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador).
