Distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, South Africa, Seychelles, Madagascar, Mascarenes and Persian Gulf east to Hawaiian Islands and Pitcairn Group, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Western Australia, New Caledonia and Lord Howe Island. Saint Helena population probably based on a distinct spcies. Habitat: marine.
