lividus, Chaetodon Forster [J. R.] in Bloch & Schneider 1801:235 [M. E. Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; ref. 471] Tahuata, Marquesas Is, southern Pacific. No types known. Type locality information from Randall 2004:390 [ref. 28077]. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage).
