Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya), Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes (La RĂ©union, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.) and Pitcairn Group, north to southern Japan, south to Kermadec Islands and Rapa (French Polynesia). Former Red Sea records are now assigned to C. spilotoceps Schultz 1950. Habitat: marine.
