Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:95 [ref. 19236]. Original genus should have been Tripterygion. •Synonym of Helcogramma hudsoni (Jordan & Seale 1906) -- (Hansen 1986:339 [ref. 5810]). •Valid as Helcogramma gymnauchen (Weber 1909) -- (Yoshino in Masuda et al. 1984:293 [ref. 6441], Randall et al. 1990:365 [ref. 15987], Fricke 1994:421 [ref. 21827], Fricke 1997:437, 578 [ref. 23339], Williams & Fricke 2001:3534 [ref. 26288], Allen & Adrim 2003:53 [ref. 26830], Randall 2005:476 [ref. 28239], Hoese 2006:1524 [ref. 28998], Fricke 2009:49 [ref. 30394], Patzner et al. 2009:447 [ref. 30396], Allen & Erdmann 2012:774 [ref. 31980], Larson et al. 2013:178 [ref. 32988], Fricke et al. 2014:146 [ref. 33932], Fricke & Erdmann 2017:42 [ref. 35190]).
