Holotype: AMS I.18244-001. Paratypes: AMS I.18244-002 (1), BMNH 1975.2.12.4 [1, ex AMS]. •Valid as Pseudochromis paranox Lubbock & Goldman 1976 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:520 [ref. 12442], Randall et al. 1990:129 [ref. 15987], Randall et al. 1997:129 [ref. 25919], Gill 1999:2566 [ref. 24817]). •Valid as Manonichthys paranox (Lubbock & Goldman 1976) -- (Gill 2004:37 [ref. 27767], Gill et al. 2006:1065 [ref. 29084], Allen & Erdmann 2007:545 [ref. 29403], Gill & Williams 2011:56 [ref. 31698], Allen & Erdmann 2012:326 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2019:128 [ref. 36673]). Current status: Valid as Manonichthys paranox (Lubbock & Goldman 1976). Pseudochromidae: Pseudochrominae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Papua New Guinea, northern Great Barrier Reef (Australia) and Solomon Islands. Habitat: marine.
