Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) and Indonesia east to Micronesia, New Ireland (Papua New Guinea) and Vanuatu, north to Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Japan) and Ogasawara Islands, south to Western Australia. Hybridizes with Centropyge flavissima (Cuvier 1831). Habitat: marine.
