taenianotus, Apistus Cuvier [G.] 1829:168 [Le Règne Animal (Edition 2) v. 2; ref. 995] Mauritius [questioned in ref. 31980], Mascarenes, southwestern Indian Ocean. Holotype (unique): MNHN (apparently lost). Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1968:60 [ref. 20738]. Appeared first in footnote in Cuvier 1829:168 [ref. 995] but as Ap. taenianotus, but Ap. tied to a vernacular "Les Apistes" and not to a Latinized generic name.
