Based on Lactophrys reipublicae Ogilby 1913, a nomen nudum, plus additional material. If reipubicae is not available, then Whitley could not designate a lectotype. The spelling needs attention as well. •In earlier literature this species is dated to Ogilby 1913. •Synonym of Tetrosomus cancatenatus (Bloch 1785) -- (Randall et al. 1990:471 [ref. 15987]). •Valid as Trioris reipublicae (Ogilby 1913) -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:154 [ref. 25477]). •Valid as Lactoria reipublicae (Ogilby 1913) -- (Hutchins 2001:48 [ref. 25847]). •Valid as Tetrosomus reipublicae (Ogilby 1913) -- (Matsuura & Tyler 1997:198 [ref. 23219] as Tetrasomus, Matsuura in Randall & Lim 2000:648 [ref. 25122], Shinohara et al. 2000:184 [ref. 25987], Matsuura 2001:3951 [ref. 26317], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S124 [ref. 27377], Allen et al. 2006:1908 [ref. 29090] dated to Whitley 1930).
