Species epithet in honor of the late Charles Engelhard and his family; the correct species epithet would have been engelhardorum. •Valid as Anthias engelhardi Allen & Starck 1982 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:501 [ref. 12442]). •Valid as Pseudanthias engelhardi (Allen & Starck 1982) -- (Randall et al. 1990:92 [ref. 15987], Randall et al. 1997:92 [ref. 25919], Myers 1999:107 [ref. 23965], Randall & Pyle 2001:34 [ref. 25690], Allen et al. 2006:992 [ref. 29078], Fricke et al. 2011:386 [ref. 31242], Allen & Erdmann 2012:292 [ref. 31980], Anderson 2018:39 [ref. 36146], Parenti & Randall 2020:35 [ref. 37354]). Current status: Valid as Pseudanthias engelhardi (Allen & Starck 1982). Anthiadidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: Great Barrier Reef (Queensland, Australia), Papua New Guinea, and Loyalty Islands (New Caledonia) to Fiji and Tonga. IUCN (2016): LC. Habitat: marine.
