Lectotype: ZMA 112434. Paralectotypes: ZMA 112434 (1), 112435 (2), 112434 (1), 124953 [ex 112434] (1), 124954 [ex 112434] (1); one lost. Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:83 [ref. 19236]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Platycephalus grandisquamis Regan 1908. Replaced by Onigocia sibogae Imamura 2011 with ZMA 112434 as the lectotype. macrocephalus, Platycephalus Weber [M.] 1913:508, Fig. 107 [Die Fische der Siboga-Expedition; ref. 4602] North of Waigeo [Waigiou] (0°02.6'S, 115°24.3'E), depth 100 meters. Lectotype: ZMA 112438. Paralectotypes: regarded as this species: ZMA 11248 (1), 11249 (1). The other types are also paralectotypes following the ICZN Code. Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:83 [ref. 19236]. Imamura 2012:23 [ref. 32157] indicates that 4 type specimens are O. grandisquamis (Regan 1908), 3 are this species. •Valid as Onigocia macrocephala (Weber 1913) -- (Imamura 2012:25 [ref. 32157], Larson et al. 2013:91 [ref. 32988], Imamura 2016:157 [ref. 35406], Motomura et al. 2017:73 [ref. 35490]). Paralectotypes: ZMA 124953 [ex ZMA 112434] (1). Other paralectotypes are not this species (ZMA 112435 (2)) now syntypes of Platycephalus horai de Beaufort 1956 and 124954 [ex 112434] (1) is a specimen of Onigocia grandisquamis (Regan 1908). Replacement name for Platycephalus grandisquamis Weber 1913, preoccupied by Platycephalus grandisquamis Regan 1908. Lectotype selected by Imamura 2011:53 [ref. 31573]. •Valid as Onigocia sibogae Imamura 2011 -- (Imamura 2012:30 [ref. 32157], Larson et al. 2013:91 [ref. 32988], Imamura 2016:157 [ref. 35406]).
