Syntypes: MNHN 0000-7992 (2). Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1978:5 [ref. 20862]. •Valid as Amphiprion tunicatus Cuvier 1830 -- (Allen 1991:237 [ref. 19344]). •Synonym of Amphiprion percula (Lacepède 1802) -- (Fricke et al. 2019:207 [ref. 36673], Parenti 2021:47 [ref. 38418]). Current status: Synonym of Amphiprion percula (Lacepède 1802). Pomacentridae: Pomacentrinae. Habitat: marine.

tysonis, Perca Walbaum [J. J.] 1792:351 [Petri Artedi sueci genera piscium Part 3; ref. 4572] South seas. No types known. Appeared without a species name in Tyson 1772:247-249 [ref. 26244] in the genus Perca. A forgotten name, but treated as a nomen oblitum to permit continued use of percula as a nomen protectum (see Parenti 2003:497 [ref. 27322]). •Synonym of Amphiprion percula (Lacepède 1802) -- (Parenti 2003:497 [ref. 27322], Parenti 2021:46 [ref. 38418]).
