The plate number is given as 167 bis in index and list of plates but is mislabeled as 162 bis on the plate (note that there is another Pl. 162 bis depicting Oblata melanura (= Sparus melanurus Linnaeus 1758)). Also as coerulescens in literature. Unneeded new name for and objective synonym of Labrus furca Lacepède 1801. If regarded as based on literature and specimens, the holotype of Bauchot et al. is a syntype, otherwise there is no type. •Synonym of Aphareus furca (Lacepède 1801) -- (Allen 1985:18 [ref. 6843] as furcatus). •Synonym of Aphareus furca (Lacepède 1801) -- (Fricke 1999:263 [ref. 24106] as coerulescens).
