Available from footnote as, "A. neso-gallica, N., Lacép., V, pl. xi, f. 1. Ce n'est pas le même que l'A. pinguis du texte." Based on the 'Athérine grasdeau' of Lacepède (ex Commerson) 1803:Pl. 11 (fig. 1) [ref. 4930]. Species epithet misspelled neso-galica by Cuvier 1831:173 [ref. 30376]. •Valid as Atherinomorus nesogallicus (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kottelat 2013:286 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Atherinomorus pinguis (Lacepède 1803). Holotype: SMF 6856. Paratypes: BMNH 1860.11.9.153 (1), SMF 6859 (1). Based on Atherina forskalii of Klunzinger 1884:130, Pl. 11 (fig. 3) (not of Rüppell 1838). Specific name ruppelli is correct, Kullander 2016:96 [ref. 34436]. •Synonym of Atherinomorus lacunosus (Forster 1801) -- (Kimura et al. 2007:150 [ref. 29157], Kottelat 2013:286 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Atherinomorus lacunosus (Forster 1801). Atherinidae: Atherinomorinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
