Not Lord Howe Island to Norfolk Island, which is C. galapagensis. Habitat: marine.

Lectotype: WAM P.2503-001 (jaws only). Paralectotypes: (2) WAM. Type catalog: Hutchins & Smith 1991:6 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:4 [ref. 30117]. Based on more than one species and two holotypes were named originally (one supported by photograph and the other now represented by jaws); lectotype (jaws) selected by Garrick 1982:43 [ref. 5454]. Photograph represents a specimen which is Carcharhinus brevipinna (Müller & Henle 1839) -- (Garrick 1982:43 [ref. 5454]). •Synonym of Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos (Bleeker 1856) -- (Garrick 1982:106 [ref. 5454], Compagno 1984:459 [ref. 6846], Paxton et al. 1989:76 [ref. 12442], Last & Stevens 1994:233 [ref. 23873], Hoese et al. 2006:98 [ref. 29001], Moore et al. 2009:4 [ref. 30117], Voigt & Weber 2011:45 [ref. 31424]). •Also as a synonym of Carcharhinus brevipinna (Müller & Henle 1839) -- (Last & Stevens 1994:238 [ref. 23873]). Evidently Valenciennes alone was responsible for the description. tufiensis, Galeolamna Whitley [G. P.] 1949:24 [Proceedings of the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales (for 1947-48); ref. 19150] Off Tufi Harbor, northeastern Papua New Guinea. Holotype: AMS IB.2334 (teeth). Paratypes: (4) CSIRO C 1677 (1), C 1918 (1, dissected).
