madagaskariensis, Chaetodon chrysurus Ahl [E.] 1923:163 [Archiv für Naturgeschichte Berlin (N.F.) v. 89 Abt. A, Heft 5; ref. 5113] Mauritius, Mascarenes, southwestern Indian Ocean [not Madagascar]. Holotype (unique): MNHN 0000-9672. Usually seen as madagascariensis but probably should not be emended; authors however may wish to evoke a prevailing usage argument. Based on description of Choetodon (Tetragonoptrus) miliaris (non Quoy & Gaimard 1825) by Sauvage 1891:259 [ref. 14503], allegedly from Madagascar, but in fact from Mauritius based on Chaetodon chrysurus Desjardins 1834.
