Holotype: FMNH 56466 [ex CM 5280a]. Paratypes: CAS 79640 [ex IU 13428a] (1), FMNH 56467 [CM 5280b] (1). Type catalog: Henn 1928:96 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:49 [ref. 12367]. Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied by Halichoeres bimaculatus Rüppell 1835 when both are in Halichoeres, replaced by Halichoeres aestuaricola Bussing 1972. •Valid as Iridio bimaculatus Wilson 1916 -- (Kuiter 2010:219 [ref. 35285]). •Synonym of Halichoeres aestuaricola Bussing 1972 -- (Bussing 1987:95 [ref. 21800], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:398 [ref. 24550], Parenti & Randall 2000:19 [ref. 24943]). 2°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Halichoeres aestuaricola Bussing 1972. Labridae. Distribution: Gulf of California to Colombia [if valid]. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): SMF 1164. •Valid as Halichoeres bimaculatus Rüppell 1835 -- (Dor 1984:202 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:54 [ref. 25356]). •Probably a synonym of Halichoeres zeylonicus (Bennett 1833) -- (Randall et al. 1990:322 [ref. 15987]). •Synonym of Halichoeres zeylonicus (Bennett 1833) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:25 [ref. 24943], Randall & Lobel 2003:124 [ref. 26689], Golani & Fricke 2018:125 [ref. 36273], Randall & Victor 2022:211 [ref. 39916]). Current status: Synonym of Halichoeres zeylonicus (Bennett 1833). Labridae. Habitat: marine.
