Lectotype designated by Smith-Vaniz & Springer 1971:33 [ref. 4145]. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Andaman Islands and Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) east to Philippines and Samoa, north to Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Japan), south to Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
