Habitat: brackish, marine.

Apparently described independently of (and not the same as) Stromateus paru Linnaeus 1758. Preoccupied by Stromateus paru Linnaeus 1758. •Synonym of Parastromateus niger (Bloch 1795). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Parastromateus niger (Bloch 1795). Carangidae: Caranginae. Habitat: marine.
