russelii, Trachinotus Cuvier [G.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1832:436 [Histoire naturelle des poissons; ref. 1000] Puducherry, India. Syntypes: MNHN A-5663 (1, dry). Type catalog: Smith-Vaniz et al. 1979:30 [ref. 12247]. Both Trachinus botla and russelii were based on Russell's Pl. 142.
