Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:54 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Axelrodia stigmatias (Fowler 1913) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:7 [ref. 9708], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:114 [ref. 27061], Barriga Salazar 2014:106 [ref. 35745], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:53 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:17 [ref. 39298], Chuctaya et al. 2022:18 [ref. 42137]). Current status: Valid as Axelrodia stigmatias (Fowler 1913). Acestrorhamphidae: Megalamphodinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru). IUCN (2023): Least Concern. Habitat: freshwater.
