Holotype (unique): SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 30024 [ex TMP 15289]. •Valid as Barbus thamalakanensis Fowler 1935 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:291 [ref. 6186], Skelton 1993:144 [ref. 24071], Skelton 2001:144 [ref. 27406], Marshall 2011:86 [ref. 31755], Stiassny & Sakharova 2016:1410 [ref. 34176] as 'Barbus'). •Valid as Enteromius thamalakanensis (Fowler 1935) -- (Yang et al. 2015:112 [ref. 33694], Hayes & Armbruster 2017:355 [ref. 35417], Bruton et al. 2018:53 [ref. 36373], Skelton 2019:232 [ref. 36564], Munene et al. 2021:21 [ref. 39283], Scheepers et al. 2024:11 [ref. 41328]). Current status: Valid as Enteromius thamalakanensis (Fowler 1935). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Southern and south Central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
