Current status: Synonym of Haplochromis pharyngalis Poll & Damas 1939. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Habitat: freshwater. pharyngalis, Haplochromis Poll [M.] & Damas [H.] 1939:47, Figs. 25-26 [Exploration du Parc National Albert. Mission H. Damas (1935-36). Fasc. 6; ref. 17219] Lake Edward, Bugazia, Democratic Republic of Congo. Syntypes: MRAC 65724-26 (3). Type catalog: Derijst 1991:44 [ref. 21528]. •Possibly valid as Thoracochromis pharyngalis (Poll & Damas 1939). •Valid as Haplochromis pharyngalis Poll & Damas 1939 -- (van Oijen et al. 1991:162 [ref. 20956], Vranken et al. 2020:[3] 1556 [ref. 38669]). Current status: Valid as Haplochromis pharyngalis Poll & Damas 1939. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: East Africa: Lake Edward system (Democratic Republic of Congo; Uganda).
