Described independently of but subjectively invalid, preoccupied in Homaloptera by Homaloptera ocellata van der Hoeven 1832. Description as a holotype is questioned; based on a drawing and on MNHN 0000-3122 -- Kottelat 2012:51 [ref. 32367]. •Synonym of Homaloptera wassinkii Bleeker 1853 -- (Roberts 1993:25 [ref. 21799]). •Treated as valid as Homaloptera ocellata (Valenciennes 1846) -- (Doi 1997:18 [ref. 22832]). •Synonym or Homalopteroides wassinkii (Bleeker 1853) -- (Kottelat 2013:189 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Homalopteroides wassinkii (Bleeker 1853). Balitoridae. Habitat: freshwater.
