Ruwenzori, Uganda (±0°10'N, 30°12'E), elevation 6000 feet. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1911.7.26.1. •Valid as Barbus somereni Boulenger 1911 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:287 [ref. 6186] with species as somerini, De Vos & Thys van den Audenaerde 1990:13 [ref. 17656], De Vos et al. 2001:131 [ref. 26059] as 'Barbus'). •Valid as Labeobarbus somereni (Boulenger 1911) -- (Banyankimbona et al. 2012:276 [ref. 34113], Vreven et al. 2016:69 [ref. 34168], Kiselkewa et al. 2020:[8] 707 [ref. 38315], Akoth et al. 2023:9 [ref. 40069], Bigirimana et al. 2024:34 [ref. 41336], Maetens et al. 2025:[7] [ref. 42346]). Current status: Valid as Labeobarbus somereni (Boulenger 1911). Cyprinidae: Torinae. Distribution: Eastern and central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
