Holotype: MTD F 27890. Paratypes: MTD F 27891 (1), 27892-908 (17). •Valid as Nannacara quadrispinae Staeck & Schindler 2004 -- (Römer 2006:1206 [ref. 28970], Staeck 2017:283 [ref. 35639], Lasso & Machado-Allison 2024:167 [ref. 42465]). Current status: Valid as Nannacara quadrispinae Staeck & Schindler 2004. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: Orinoco River delta (Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater. taenia, Nannacara Regan [C. T.] 1912:505 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 8) v. 9 (no. 53); ref. 14863] Probably near Belim, Brazil [not Amazon River at Manaos [Manaus], Brazil]. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1912.2.2.15. Additional material: BMNH 1912.2.2.16-17 (2). For locality see Kullander & Prada-Pedreros 1993:357 [ref. 21108]. •Possible synonym of Nannacara anomala Regan 1905 -- (Kullander & Nijssen 1989:199 [ref. 14136]). •Valid as Nannacara taenia Regan 1912 -- (Kullander & Prada-Pedreros 1993:362 [ref. 21108], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:640 [ref. 27061], Staeck 2003:177 [ref. 27488], Staeck & Schindler 2004:160 [ref. 28001], Staeck 2017:291 [ref. 35639]).
