Not intended as an original description and not described in accord with the Code. •In the synonymy of Pseudotropheus crabro (Ribbink & Lewis 1982). Nomen Nudum. Current status: Synonym of Pseudotropheus crabro (Ribbink & Lewis 1982). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae.

C.] 1982:72, Fig. 1 [Netherlands Journal of Zoology v. 32 (no. 1); ref. 8425] Maleri Island, 13°53'S, 34°37'E, Lake Malawi [Lake Nyasa], southeastern Africa, depth 15-18 meters. Holotype: BMNH 1981.11.30.23. Paratypes: BMNH 1981.11.30.24-33 (10). •Valid as Pseudotropheus crabro (Ribbink & Lewis 1982) -- (Maréchal 1991:402 [ref. 20944], Konings-Dudin et al. 2009:56 [ref. 30309], Konings & Stauffer 2012:20 [ref. 31871], Konings 2016:148 [ref. 34521], Stauffer et al. 2016:172 [ref. 34671]). Current status: Valid as Pseudotropheus crabro (Ribbink & Lewis 1982). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
