Current status: Synonym of Synodontis petricola Matthes 1959. Mochokidae: Mochokinae. Distribution: Eastern-central Africa: Musende Rocks area, Zambian, Lake Tanganyika [if valid]. Habitat: freshwater. petricola, Synodontis Matthes [M.] 1959:78 [Folia Scientifica Africae Centralis v. 5 (no. 4); ref. 6068] Kashekezi, northern Lake Tanganyika. Holotype: MRAC 130357. Paratypes: BMNH 1936.6.15.1232 (1); MRAC 130358-60 (3), 130361-67 (7), 130368-76 (9), 130377 (1), 130824 (1).
