Paratypes: USNM 93580 (2). •Valid as Taeniacara candidi Myers 1935 -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:642 [ref. 27061], Staeck 2003:198 [ref. 27488], Staeck 2017:296 [ref. 35639]). Current status: Valid as Taeniacara candidi Myers 1935. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: Amazon River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.

weisei, Apistogramma Arnold [J. P.] (ex Ahl) 1935:801, Fig. [Wochenschrift für Aquarien- und Terrarienkunde v. 32 (no. 51); ref. 35567] Santarém, Amazon River, Pará, Brazil. Holotype (unique): ZMB 32385. Types mentioned: Paepke 1995:95 [ref. 21847]. See for a figure of the holotype Paepke & Schindler 2013:264 [ref. 32895]. Described in more detail by Ahl 1936:268 [ref. 13680]. Arnold made the name available and he (unfortunately) is the author; Ahl suggested the name but did not participate in the act that made the name available. Misspelled Apistogramma weisii by Schneider 1987:82 [ref. 31265], based on a misidentification of Apistogramma sp. •Synonym of Taeniacara candidi Myers 1935 -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:642 [ref. 27061], Staeck 2003:118, 198 [ref. 27488], Paepke & Schindler 2013:264 [ref. 32895]). Current status: Synonym of Taeniacara candidi Myers 1935. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Habitat: freshwater.
