Syntypes originally as ZMB 4113 from Puerto Cabella, Venezuela; original locality questionable -- see Williams & Tyler 2003:14 [ref. 27287]. •Valid as Tomicodon fasciatus (Peters 1859) -- (Briggs 1955:66 [ref. 637], Johnson & Greenfield 1983:46 [ref. 28991] with subspecies, Cervigón 1991:203 [ref. 24472], McEachran 2003:1774 [ref. 27089], Williams & Tyler 2003:12 [ref. 27287], Menezes in Menezes et al. 2003:97 [ref. 27192], Nelson et al. 2004:168 [ref. 27807] dating to 1860, Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:73 [ref. 33341], Barrientos et al. 2023:274 [ref. 41235]). Current status: Valid as Tomicodon fasciatus (Peters 1859). Gobiesocidae: Gobiesocinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: U.S. Virgin Islands south to Venezuerla, including Caribbean Sea. IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine. minuta, Arbaciosa Meek [S. E.] & Hildebrand [S. F.] 1928:928, Pl. 92 [Field Museum of Natural History, Publications, Zoölogical Series v. 15 (publ. 249); ref. 2964] Colón, (Atlantic) Panama.
