W.] 1908:26, Pl. 1 [Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington v. 21; ref. 14318] Río San Ramon, San Pedro Martir Mountains, 35 miles northeast of Port San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico, elevation 2000 feet. Holotype: USNM 61056. Paratypes: (8) AMNH (1, not found or not sent), FMNH (1, not found or not sent), IU (1), MCZ (1), CAS-SU (1, not found or not sent), U.S. Bur. Fish. 1620 (1); UMMZ 157681 (1); ? USNM 61057 (1), 76406 (3) ?76407 (1). •Synonym of Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum 1792), but a valid subspecies nelsoni (Evermann 1908) -- (Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:30 [ref. 22290], Behnke 1992:195 [ref. 23385] with comments, Ruiz-Campos et al. 1997:74 [ref. 24461], Ruiz-Campos et al. 2000:68 [ref. 24940], Scharpf 2006:31 [ref. 30386], Minckley & Marsh 2009:90 [ref. 31114], Penaluna et al. 2016:291 [ref. 34726]). •Valid as Oncorhynchus nelsoni Evermann 1908. Current status: Valid as Oncorhynchus nelsoni (Evermann 1908). Salmonidae: Salmoninae. Distribution: Southern North America: Baja California (Mexico) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
