dispar, Scopelengys Garman [S.] 1899:254, Pl. 54 (figs. 2-2d) [Memoirs of the Museum of Comparative Zoology v. 24; ref. 1540] Southwest of Gulf of Panama, 7°06'15"N, 80°34'W, Albatross station 3353, depth 695 fathoms. Lectotype: MCZ 28508. Paralectotypes: MCZ 41639 (1), 100033 [ex MCZ 28508] (1), 100034 [ex MCZ 28508] (1). As lugubris on p. 400 apparently by error, which based on asterisk is intended for the same taxon as dispar. Lectotype selected by Butler & Ahlstrom 1976:147 [ref. 7374] as 28058 [sic]. •Valid as Scopelengys dispar Garman 1899 -- (Pequeño 1989:38 [ref. 14125]). •Synonym of Scopelengys tristis Alcock 1890 -- (Nielsen 1973:170 [ref. 6885], Butler & Ahlstrom 1976:143 [ref. 7374], Nafpaktitis 1977:6 [ref. 23677], Hulley 1990:469 [ref. 15273], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:243 [ref. 25968]). Current status: Synonym of Scopelengys tristis Alcock 1890. Neoscopelidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.
