tinca, Strinsia Rafinesque [C. S.] 1810:52 [Indice d'ittiologia siciliana; ref. 3595] Messina, Sicily, Italy, Mediterranean Sea. No types known. Spelled tinea on p. 12; apparently tinca by all subsequent authors, but technical first reviser not researched. A neotype designation by Torchio was regarded as invalid (see Cohen & Torchio 1964 [ref. 21052]). Not same as Strinsia tinca Bonaparte 1838: fasc. 23, punt. 120, Pl. 107 (fig. 2) for which Böhlke 1984:127 [ref. 13621] lists a holotype. •Regarded as a nomen dubium, possibly a macrourid -- (Cohen & Torchio 1963 [ref. 21052]). •Incertae sedis in Macrouridae -- (Parenti 2019:119 [ref. 37117]). Nomen Dubium. Macrouridae. Habitat: marine.
