Holotype (unique): UMZC [Darwin no. 838]. •Valid as Clupea fuegensis Jenyns 1842 -- (Stepien 1990:600 [ref. 19879]). •Valid as Sprattus fuegensis (Jenyns 1842) -- (Whitehead 1985:46 [ref. 5141], Nakamura in Nakamura et al. 1986:70 [ref. 14235], Pequeño 1989:27 [ref. 14125], Lloris & Rucabado 1991:51 [ref. 22530], López et al. 1996:15 [ref. 23681] as fueguensis, Cousseau & Perrotta 2000:60 [ref. 25942], López et al. 2002:63 [ref. 26808] as fueguensis, Canales-Aguirre et al. 2021:3 [ref. 38579], Chiaramonte et al. 2023:210 [ref. 40423]). Current status: Valid as Sprattus fuegensis (Jenyns 1842). Clupeidae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific, southwestern Atlantic: southern Chile and Patagonia (Argentina). Habitat: marine.
