Holotype (unique): USNM 23136. •Valid as Menidia bartoni (Jordan & Evermann 1896) -- (Miller 2006:193 [ref. 28615]). •Valid as Chirostoma bartoni Jordan & Evermann 1896 -- (Espinosa Pérez et al. 1993:59 [ref. 22290], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:518 [ref. 27061], Nelson et al. 2004:98 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2007:7 [ref. 30398], Page et al. 2013:100 [ref. 32708]). Current status: Valid as Chirostoma bartoni Jordan & Evermann 1896. Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: La Alberca, an extinct volcanic crater, Lerma River basin, Mexico. Habitat: freshwater.
