Holotype: AMS IB.2149 (largest specimen). Paratypes: AMS I.27303-001 (3), IB.2150 (1); GNHNA ? (3). •Valid as Quirichthys stramineus (Whitley 1950) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:359 [ref. 12442], Allen & Leggett 1990:536 [ref. 20887], Larson & Martin 1990:36 [ref. 16606]). •Valid as Craterocephalus stramineus (Whitley 1950) -- (Crowley & Ivantsoff 1992:283 [ref. 20015], Unmack 2001:1061 [ref. 25797], Hutchins 2001:25 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2002:139 [ref. 25930], Paxton et al. 2006:709 [ref. 28995], Ivantsoff & Allen 2011:54 [ref. 31135], Morgan et al. 2011:13 [ref. 31262], Larson et al. 2013:64 [ref. 32988], Pusey et al. 2017:36 [ref. 35250]). Current status: Valid as Craterocephalus stramineus (Whitley 1950). Atherinidae: Craterocephalinae. Distribution: Australia: Ord River (Western Australia) eastward, Northern Territory, east to Gulf of Carpentaria (Queensland). Habitat: freshwater.
