Lectotype: RMNH 24910 [ex RMNH 5421]. Paralectotypes: (25) BMNH 1880.4.21.15 (1); ?NMV 46486-87 (2); RMNH 5421 (some of 11), ?5157 (1). Based on literature sources and specimens. Lectotype selected by Randall & Greenfield 1996:34 [ref. 22543]. •Synonym of Myripristis hexagonus [hexagona is correct] (Lacepède 1802) -- (Greenfield 1974:25 [ref. 7142], Randall & Greenfield 1996:32 [ref. 22543], Randall 2005:89 [ref. 28239]). Current status: Synonym of Myripristis hexagona (Lacepède 1802). Holocentridae: Myripristinae. Habitat: marine.
