F.] 1903:204, Pl. 13 (fig. 1) [Marine Investigations in South Africa v. 2; ref. 1645] Cape Morgan on east coast, bearing N.W.1/4 West 6.5 miles, South Africa, depth 45 fathoms. Holotype (unique): SAM 11766. •Valid as Centroberyx spinosus (Gilchrist 1903) -- (Heemstra 1986:410 [ref. 5660], Kotlyar 1996:117 [ref. 23292], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:132 [ref. 28072], Anderson 2022:387 [ref. 39705]). Current status: Valid as Centroberyx spinosus (Gilchrist 1903). Berycidae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). Habitat: marine.
