Syntypes: (3) BMNH 1936.8.4.6 [ex SAM] (1), SAIAB 134867 [ex SAM 10672 [now at AMG] (3, now 2)]. •Synonym of Barbus capensis Smith 1841 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:237 [ref. 6186]). •Valid as Labeobarbus seeberi (Gilchrist & Thompson 1913) -- (Vreven et al. 2016:21, 69 [ref. 34168], Skelton et al. 2018:4 [ref. 35835]). Current status: Valid as Labeobarbus seeberi (Gilchrist & Thompson 1913). Cyprinidae: Torinae. Distribution: Clanwilliam - Olifants River system, Western Cape, South Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
