Holotype: USNM 170907 [ex NYZS 7302]. Paratypes: (68) USNM 170908 (14). Type catalog: Mead 1958:132 [ref. 20648]. Original specific name should have been haitiense. •Valid as Cichlasoma haitiensis Tee-Van 1935 -- (Lee et al. 1983:63 [ref. 22527], Conkel 1993:121 [ref. 22949]). •Valid as Nandopsis haitiensis (Tee-Van 1935) -- (Burgess 2000:48 [ref. 24818], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:639 [ref. 27061], Chakrabarty 2006:4 [ref. 28471], Chakrabarty 2007:22 [ref. 29359], Říčan et al. 2016:30 [ref. 34357], Rodrigues-Silva et al. 2021:151 [ref. 38097]). Current status: Valid as Nandopsis haitiensis (Tee-Van 1935). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: Central America/West Indies: Dominican Republic and Haiti. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
